Why You Need to Advertise on Social Media

Why advertise on social media? Social media and the digital world are the most hyped sectors of our day. It is not a surprise though. If you know how to earn money through social media you are going to be rich in no time. But if you sit around or just let it manipulate you, you are going to be in a lot of trouble.

What our parents thought about prestigious jobs have been replaced by being a blogger, a YouTuber, an internet celebrity. We even wrote about Kids Wanting to Be YouTubers previously, and it gives a great insight into what the new generation is thinking about their futures.

When the new generation is using social media this frequently, would it make sense to try to reach them over TV? In short, no. But in the long answer, you are going to need both mediums to reach your target audience. In today’s article, we will tell you why you need to advertise on social media, whether you own a brand or you are trying to become a brand. We’ll touch upon the latter in a later article.

Why You Need to Advertise on Social Media

Advertising on Social Media for Brands

The main difference between advertising on social media and conventional media would be the forces behind campaigns. For conventional media, you are spending a big budget on a campaign, so your main goal is to drive sales. This totally makes sense for conventional media, but on digital media, there is another factor in play.

Social media advertisements are much more cost-efficient than traditional ones. That is of course if you are not working with Kardashian-Jenners. So naturally when you are spending less than what you would otherwise spend on conventional media, you can branch out your expectations from an advertisement. Creating brand awareness and increasing brand loyalty are one of the best assets social media offers to brands. With a wider but specifically targeted audience, as a brand you can pin-point who you want to reach. So instead of putting your product photo on every billboard or TV, you can basically work with an influencer in your niche area to promote your product. Sounds good right?

Influencer Marketing Is Not The Only Type of Social Media Advertising

The beauty of social media is that you can advertise your brand without needing another human being. With platforms like Facebook, Google and more, as a brand you can actually buy spaces on these platforms to promote your product. It is not free of course, but it is not as pricey as you’d think. If you know where your audience lives, the age group, the gender or any specific interest, you will create a really efficient advertisement that might in turn come to you as money.

Apart from media purchase, you can also promote your content on social media to reach a wider audience. Same as influencer marketing, you can choose and specify your target audience according to the location, age group, interests, and gender. With a promoted post, you can aim to get more exposure, lead the audience to your website, or let them contact you. By doing so, you are raising brand awareness, and could be boosting sales as well.

You Can Keep A More Detailed Report with Social Media Advertising

Conventional media is all good and fun, with luxury elements included in it. However, if you care about numbers and want to see true metrics, social media advertising is your best bet. When you create a project on social media, whether it’s an influencer project, or promoting a post, your numbers will stay there until you delete them. So you can go back and see the numbers and statistics of a project anytime you want. It is also more reliable, as people who are seeing your content and ads are actively on social media. Whereas when you create an ad on a billboard, you actually don’t know if enough people are seeing it. With social media, you are able to create projects with a better price / performance ratio.
