TikTok is expanding its partnership with Shopify to give Shopify merchants more options to market their products directly on the app. The feature is called the shop tab, and TikTok has announced the news two days ago for those who use Shopify Merchant Profiles. This shop tab serves to capture a new showcase view within the application to make it easier to promote products. Thanks to the shopping tab, users will be able to go directly to the online store.
The announcement of Shopify Shop tab in TikTok once again showed us how important e-commerce is for TikTok. Although this new tab doesn’t allow direct in-stream shopping, TikTok seems to have achieved its purpose which is to expand e-commerce. And it is expected that such integrations will continue to be added. About the addition of this new feature to the app, Shopify says:
“The TikTok Shopping pilot is currently available to Shopify merchants in the US and UK. A select group of merchants in Canada will participate in the pilot in the coming weeks, and the feature will roll out to additional regions in the coming months. Shopify merchants can request early access to the TikTok Shopping pilot via Shopify’s TikTok channel.”
