If you’re on TikTok, it is most likely that these ‘Island Boys’ from South Florida popped up on your timeline. In October, they posted a video of themselves in a pool, freestyling a song called I’m an Island Boy. The now-deleted TikTok became viral, but not in a very nice way. Ever since the video came out, there have been lots of negative comments towards the duo. As if this is not enough, a few weeks earlier, they happened to be at a Jake Paul fight in which they were booed and mocked by the crowd.
About the ‘Island Boys’
The so-called ‘Island Boys’ are 20-year-old twin brothers whose real names are Franky and Alex Venegas. However, they prefer to go by Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja. On October 12, they posted a TikTok freestyling to their song Island Boys in a pool. The video went viral and the song became a hit. The particular TikTok clip and the brothers got so many negative comments on several different platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, etc. The main reasons for the negative comments were their bad rapping and unusual hairstyle. The TikTok was then deleted, but the brothers released an official version of the song. I guess the song became some people’s guilty pleasure in spite of all the backlash, which led the brothers to take such an action.
Island Boys… not a lot of fans in Tampa. Getting booed out of the building. pic.twitter.com/c7vd3mW02v

What Happened at Jake Paul’s Fight?
A couple of weeks ago, Kodiyakredd and Flyysoulja were at Jake Paul’s fighting match (see more about influencer boxing), probably not aware of what was about the happen. On a Saturday night in their home state, the brothers were not greeted warmly. The boos started raining down as soon as they stepped into Tampa’s Amalie Arena. While some wanted to take pictures with the brothers, some were not quite happy with their presence, and they expressed this feeling by throwing bottles. (Not cool!)
The ‘Island Boys’ then took to the TMZ to say a few words. They were frustrated with the reaction they got from the crowd, saying they just wanted to be positive role models for the kids who watch their TikTok videos, and they don’t want to get into fights. They simply desire to make their way out in this world.
Whether we like or hate the ‘Island Boys’, we have to admit that they made a huge impact on social media over these couple of months. What do you think about all this drama? Leave your thoughts in the comment section.
