We all know that social media has its pros and cons. For some, it’s entertainment and business opportunities, while for others, it’s a distraction and addiction. For Chris Strouth, on the other hand, it’s a lifesaver. The main reason for this is that social media saved his life 13 years ago.
In 2009, Chris Strouth had been suffering from kidney failure and needed a kidney donor. He took to Twitter to widen his donor search without having many hopes. Two hours after his tweet, 19 people wrote to him to be tested whether they had a match. He was so surprised by the overwhelming support. The match was found in 56-year-old Scott Pakudaitis whom Chris was acquainted with. However, after the transplant, they became so inseparable that they spent holidays together. The transplant helped to save a life as well as helping to the formation of a life-long friendship.
On his 14th year anniversary on Twitter, Chris shared a tweet to reminisce his transplant saying:
In spite of his successful kidney transplant, Chris is in need of a kidney donor again. Thankfully, one of Chris’ distant relatives has contacted him via social media and he could be a possible donor.
Hopefully, Chris will get better again as he did in 2009.
