Instagram Introduces More Ways to Make Money

Recently, Instagram and Facebook organized their first Creator Week. During the three-day event focused on aspiring and developing digital producers, the famous Instagram algorithm, raising money for nonprofits and more were talked about, while virtual DJ booths were entertaining the attendants.

What Happened at Creator Week?

On the first day of the event, Zuckerberg announced new ways for creators to earn more money on the platform. According to him, Instagram will begin testing a built-in affiliate feature in the near future. This will allow creators to promote things available directly for purchase in their posts. With every purchase, creators will earn commissions on sales generated by their posts. These posts will have the “eligible for commission” notification as well. With this feature, creators can link their shops to their business profiles or their personal profiles. After a while,  qualifying creators in the US will be able to collaborate with one of Instagram’s partners to create merchandise, and use the app to announce exclusive product / merchandise releases.

Another update is viewers can now tip the creators via sending them a badge during Instagram Live. The badges cost between $0.99 to $4.99. Instagram is currently pushing towards affiliate marketing with the upgrades. The platform also brought out Instagram Shop and Shopping in Reels as well. The main goal is as Zuckerberg said during Creator Week, “To be the best platform for creators like you to make a living.”
